Josie has embarked on her latest adventure – cycling around the coast of the British Isles, including as many estuaries and islands and islets and inlets and outlets as possible. She will be sleeping behind hedges in her tent as is her wont – travelling simply and cheaply. The Isle of Wight will be her first port of call, the Channel Islands her second. From Portsmouth she will continue cycling in a vaguely clockwise direction, taking in the the coast of Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland, and the Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, Isles of Scilly, Lundy Island, Caldey Island, Anglesey, Rathlin Island, Aran Islands, Isle of Man, Inner and Outer Hebrides, Orkney, Shetland, Lindisfarne.

Hi Josie. Didn’t quite know where to put this so drove back to 2003 in my big 4×4 (That should be 2001. Lost track of time). Ah! got it. 2001 is when you exerted all that energy and 2003 when you published the book. Sorry, I tend to be a bit of a rambler in my old age. Anyway, in Oamaru (That’s NZ in case you lost track) the streets are named after rivers and streams in the UK. We have an ‘Itchen St’ here & I often wondered where that was but pager 17 tells me. You are a mine of info Josie! Then you mention the river Dever where the town is pronounced differently, deever. Something like that. We have a Nen St here where the name of the river Nene has been spelled phonetically. Such interesting books you do write but being retired I find I’m just soo busy so have to put them down too often.
