I write blogs and articles for Cycling UK (the charitable membership organisation that supports cyclists and promotes bicycle use). My latest blog is about the daily cycling school run I do (currently on my 14-feet-long juggernaut) with Jack and the girls. If you fancy seeing more have a look at: https://www.cyclinguk.org/blog/josie-dew-why-we-love-cycling-school

Here’s a couple of recent icy morning school run snaps with Jack and Daisy. The road was so icy we had to walk this bit.

Thank you!

Lovely article for Cycling UK. Your children are so lucky to be having “proper” adventures rather than the risk assessed imitation adventures that we parents are sold! It made me think of when the roads were closed in our village for the Diamond Jubilee and how pleasant it was – wouldn’t it be incredible if we could have just one day when the roads were closed to cars- I think it would really make everyone think! Most people don’t realise how easy cycling is – you really don’t need to be fit to be able to easily cycle several miles with ease.

I often think back to the fuel strike a few years ago when a normally traffic-clogged A-road near where I live had nothing on it. It was lovely – like one big cycle path!

So much fun. I want to try a big bike adventure with my 2 girls (8 and 4) on flat land. I’m keen and terrified at the same time. I’m enjoying reading your blog about the amazing adventures you have with your family. You are an inspiration and you are setting up your kids on the road to a lifetime of healthy adventuring. The world needs more parents like you.
4 weeks until the summer holidays!

Thanks June for your enthusiastic words – glad to hear my website has encouraged you and not put you off! I’ve got an 8 and a 4 year old too (plus an 11 year old). Stick them on bikes and away you go. Children and trusty steeds are a happy combination. Have fun.
