Just in case anyone was wondering where my website had gone or why it now looks a bit different this is because it was hacked into last year which sent the whole jolly shebang awry. Why anyone wants to spend time hacking into a few pictures of bicycles is beyond me but obviously someone, somewhere, has nothing better to do.
As anything to do with the workings of computers sends me into a state of befuddlement I’ve got on with doing what I know how to do: ride my bike everyday and raise three budding cyclists all of whom are growing at a great rate of knots.
Meanwhile my local whizz-head computer man has been busy resurrecting my website. As this is my first attempt to update my website on a funny-looking screen I don’t know whether it will work or not or just end up posting all my pictures all over the shop. So bear with me as they say in the trade…

Jack, who is now 2, loves his bike (an Islabike scoot-along)with a heartening enthusiasm and is on it everyday. He sports an interesting cyclist’s dress sense – here he is self-styled as a fairy-cat. Unbeknown to Daisy he borrowed her fairy wings and found a cat’s tail in the dressing-up box.

As you can see it’s quite a sporty look and offers the benefit of being able to fly as well as cycle. I think a similar look could spice up Le Tour no end – you’ve just got to be careful you don’t get your tail caught in the spokes.

Nice to have you back!

Thanks David – now that my website is back will attempt to update more regularly!

Another week or 2 and I was going to chase you up to put some intermediate catch-up on Facebook. You have broken through however. Congranulations! It might be a good thing however to go on to Facebook for the alternative purpose of telling people that you are back. As you obviously saw, the return of the un-updated website did not get as many comments as it deserved.

Yes, I’ve broken through! It’s been a bit of a battle with technology (I much prefer outdoor life than computer life) but at least my website is back for now. And yes, I am going to alert my Facebook page via my overseas Dutch correspondent Anoek – she was the one who volunteered her Facebooking services and set me up on it. My slightly longwinded method is to email her updates but don’t worry, I do plan to learn one day how to do it myself. But for now I’ve got a puncture to mend and some brake blocks to re-align and some pannier fixings to fiddle with…

Never a dull moment……………..

Hi Josie, do you need any more porridge oats? I sent you a bag years ago from an orphanage in Romania after being inspired by The Wind in my Wheels. Now married & grown x2 daughters & 4 grandchildren with a great partner. I took a few weeks off to have a heart attack 15 years ago but have ramped up the cycling since. Turning 60 next month so I’m off to Scotland,( Legrog )but I’m ashamed to say I am not taking even the littlest sproglet in a pannier. What a lightweight !
I am still nursing people with MS so will raise a penny or 2 along the way. I’m not asking you for dosh but details above if you are bored.
Thanks again for being such a great example of a free spirited original thinker who inspired me so many years ago and still does today. May the breeze be always on your back, your cartilage sound and your tribelet always safe and healthy. Cheers John

Hi John,
I’m alright for porridge oats – have got a cupboard full as all sproglets dine on it each morning before we mount up for cycling mission to school. Good to hear from you though after all these years. You’re still cycling, I’m still cycling but please don’t have any more heart attacks!
Have fun Legrogging – will look at your MS site later.

Oh so glad you’re back! Don’t worry about not being very techie – in my opinion it puts you up in my estimation as you obviously are far too busy cycling to learn such stuff.
I did a bike workshop yesterday – at the grand old age of 60!
It sounds to me, from your comment to John Batts, that you have got a nasty case of pfaffing. My elder (cycling) son suffers greatly from it and I invented some anti-pfaffing cream for him (based on a recipe from James Wong’s “Grow your own Drugs”) but unfortunately it went off so I had to chuck it. I wrote about his condition (Elder son’s health problem”) on my blog if you’ve got time to spare from pfaffing and raising cyclists, not forgetting your husband who must be somewhere. I wrote it on April 1st…..

You’re right – I’m a fine example of a fiddling pfaffer. I’m sure I would get on very well with your son. His pfaffing pfaffs sound right up my street. And yes, my husband is somewhere – more often than not in his workshop, happily pfaffing away. But not so much with bikes as with engines – mostly pre-war ones. And not a computer in sight!

Just wondered if you had seen
tagabikes.com
a child-carrying trike that transforms into a buggy for indoors, trains etc.
Version 2.0 is on KickStarter.
Maybe your family is getting a bit big,
and it’s more urban than off-road,
but it looks useful …
Great to hear you’re doing well.

Thanks Eric for your tagabike thoughts. I have seen these before and they look quite fun but I currently haven’t got any more room in my bike shed to expand my fleet of cycling contraptions!

Hi Josie,
Technology is becoming a pain but the famous are the targets unfortunately. Don’t worry. Stick to what you know; Cycling, Writing and being a mum. You had an email direct from me and I am still looking for books!
June 10th, 2016
Hi Tony,
Have just found your email. Will reply to you direct tonight. Hope you find some books. My editor at Little Brown told me my books are all available as e-books. But if you are anything like me you will prefer real bits of paper!
June 10th, 2016
Most (all?) of them are available on e-bay in paperback (mostly later versions) at very modest prices. Hardbacks seem more difficult to source.

You are so right Josie. To me Ebooks are EEeeaaahhh ug. Or something like that 🙂

I don’t think it’s easy to get a Kindle autographed – anther advantage of proper hard copy.
July 30th, 2016
You are dead right about proper books. That is the only thing I would get.
